ACCOMMODATION

The best option for accommodation during your stay at West Coast UAS is our student dorm directly next to campus. There are other options, of course. We have listed some information for you on this page.

Student Dormitory of the Studentenwerk Schleswig-Holstein

The dormitory is located within a few walking minutes to the campus. The dormitory is run by Studentenwerk Schleswig-Holstein. Studentenwerk is a service institution, which operates, among other services, student dormitories and canteens for universities in Schleswig-Holstein.
We recommend international students to live in the student dormitory or in flat-shares. This way you will get to know other students easily and you can help each other. The application for the dormitory has to be done online at https://ipack.studentenwerk.sh/#admission.
Student housing in the dormitory is available in the form of shared apartments, single bedrooms and single apartments. They are furnished or unfurnished, but all shared apartments offer their own kitchen and shower/ bathroom. Overall, there are 111 living units available. The complex also offers washing machines and dryers in the house, cable TV and internet access, as well as a bike garage and parking space. As the dormitory is a very good possibility to accommodate and acclimatize, the place is in high demand and you should apply as early as possible.
For all the advantages it offers them in particular, international students are recommended to choose this option first.

[+] PRIVATE ACCOMMODATION

In Germany, students also often live in privately organized shared or single apartments offered on the private housing market. You can find private offers for apartments at the housing market on our website: https://www.fh-westkueste.de/studieninteressierte/standort-heide/wohnen/ as well as on private websites.
All information on offers provided on our website is subject to change.

A few more little pieces of advice: Apartments in Germany are generally rented out unfurnished. You should keep that in mind when you make a decision about your accommodation. Landlords might want to see information your financial status and depending on were you're from, organising such certificates (bank statements or like) might take some time. Please plan ahead well when organising your apartment.

If you did not find a place to stay before your arrival in Heide (Holstein), you are highly recommended to book some overnight accommodation beforehand!
