The MUT program at the FHW combines the two disciplines of electronics and information technology together with business administration.

Graduates from the MUT program are in demand as mediators at the interface between management and technology. Engineers mostly see problems from a purely technical point of view and business managers often do not understand the technology in detail. However, in business it all needs to be looked at from an economic, company strategic and technical point of view. Engineers and economists do not necessarily speak the same language. This is the point that the degree in business and engineering comes into play.

The interdisciplinary education in the fields of management and technology helps industrial engineers communicate effectively between the two fields. On one hand they learn the language of engineers and the challenges associated with the respective themes. On the other hand they are able to communicate with management at a high level by reducing the complexity of technical issues so that they can be represented and understood.

These skills make industrial engineers in demand as generalists that are at home in both houses and due to their versatility and high level of interdisciplinary knowledge, industrial engineers are highly sought after on the labour market.
